Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2

Recommended Posts

The CDC has a list of disinfectants that will kill the new COVID-19 virus.  Most household disinfectants are on this list and NOT being on the list does not necessarily mean it does not work (as they haven't tested everything).

When using disinfectants is is important to remember the following:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting are two different activities.
  • You MUST read the directions to properly use disinfectants.
  • Disinfectants need to be on the surface of X amount of time to kill viruses. (Again read directions)
  • Be careful for the need for gloves, eye protection, etc. as disinfectants are often harmful to people too.
  • Did we mention to read ALL the directions first?
  • Disinfectants must be applied correctly, a spray bottle doesn't always mean to spray directly onto the surface.
