  2. We would like to take a minute to remind all of our community that local businesses are required by law to have all employees and customers wear a mask or risk losing their business license. We understand that many people have many different views on mandatory mask wearing, but local businesses are not the place to protest the State's order on this matter. If you are truly unhappy with the mask order, then please contact the office of Governor Wolf to make your case by clicking here. Otherwise we thank everyone out there supporting our local community and local businesses during this time of need.
  3. Governor Wolf has signed a new executive order that protects homeowners and renters from eviction or foreclosure until the 31st of August. “I am taking this action to help families know they will have a roof over their heads and a place to live while all of us fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gov. Wolf. “It takes one more burden off of people who are struggling and ensures that families can remain in their homes so they can protect their health and wellbeing.” Property owners that have accepted funds though the PHFA program that was created with the Cares Act have already signed an agreement to not foreclosure or evictions as part of the agreement that provided $175 million dollars in funding. For more information on this program click here. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Federal Housing Finance Agency, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have also each extended eviction and foreclosure protections for housing under their authority to August 31st. These new protections do not protect renters and property owners from eviction if illegal activity or property damage was involved. All renters and home owners struggling with paying their rent or mortgage should contact their landlord or mortgage provider immediately to discuss options. Renters and homeowners are still required to make payments if they can. References Gov. Wolf Announces Protections from Foreclosures and Evictions Through Aug. 31. (2020, July 10). 9. In order to do our part during this outbreak, traditional yard sales and other events that results in public gatherings are not allowed (per Gov. Wolf's order). However, we are allowing online based events, video chat social events, etc. Be creative and lets keep the world going!
  10. As many of you already know, our website was launched early to help keep information about the COVID-19 outbreak available and focused on our community. However, we are now pushing to launch the features we aimed to have available originally. Today we are expanding our community forums to encompass more topics that the everyday user will find useful. First we are starting off by adding a new "Community Questions" forum where members of our community to ask questions regarding all sorts of matters in the local area. This area is great to get information about local events, politics, social office locations, etc. It is also open for all users to use as they need. Secondly we added an area to Share Social Media groups and help promote them to other members of the community. From buy/sell/trade groups to local events, this forum can be used to share all sorts of local groups that exist on social media, like Facebook. Third is an entire new section to our forum for community posting. This new section includes a place to add Public Service Announcements with our fellow community members, a Lost and Found section, and a Yard Sale section for sharing personal events! We hope to continue to improve our community to benefit those around us!

  12. We have added the Pennsylvania COVID-19 outbreak map to our health and wellness section of our website. This map, along with some basic information about the virus, will be under our new virus home page as we aim to make our main home page more focused on community information and positive news over of just another virus center. This new section of our website will only be a small, useful information page as there are numerous outlets already providing information about this outbreak including the state of Pennsylvania’s website and the CDC's website. We do not want to make our website just another information portal for this virus and potentially provide old or inaccurate information and therefore will focus on our community forum where local members of the community can interact with each other when it comes to this outbreak. Thank you again for your time and supporting us during these troubled times.
  13. Columbia County Online is proud to announce the release of our health section of our website. This section is currently focused on the current Corona virus outbreak, but more generalized health related topics and pages will be added soon. This section of our website will be where we post all the latest health related news, community health events, and generalized public health related information. We hope that this section of our website will currently aid those in need of information about the current outbreak today and tomorrow will help all our community members create a healthier and more wellness focused life. Thank you for supporting us as we attempt to add more features each day. Please let us know any issues or errors you are encountering using our website so we can fix these as soon as possible.

  15. Symptoms of COVID-19 can include: Fever Cough Shortness of breath Diarrhea The symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Reported illnesses have ranged from people with little to no symptoms to people being severely ill and dying. The CDC has put together a "tool" to self check yourself in the event of getting sick, although it is mostly a word document. You can find the article here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/testing.html
